I took the bus from Rovaniemi to Kakslauttanen in the morning.

I was going to enjoy my first sponsor accommodation tonight. The manager estimated that I would arrive in Hotel before 4:00 PM. I just need to show her business card to the bus driver, then he would take me to the destination. After all Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is famous in Finland.

 
I arrived in lobby before 4:00 PM. The reception contacted the manager for me.

They had free hot chocolate here. I was waiting at the dining area, I met some Chinese students whom I met on Sampo icebreakers. They also live here tonight. I had conversation with a student, then I started wondering if I’d be arranged to live in the glass igloo. Maybe I misunderstood, because it’s hard to book the room and it’s expensive(Winter high season € 400 per person). I tried to calm down and not to be too excited at the beginning. It’s very meaningful for me, because it’d be my first sponsor accommodation in my life, I worked hard to earn this trip for myself.

The manager came to me and told me that other customers are coming later. She was going to drive me to my room. Then I realize it was some distance between the reception and the accommodation. She told me the schedule for tonight and tomorrow. I was surprised that she already organized all the things very well. We had a great talk in the car. Because I just found out I was pregnant 2 days ago, I told her the good news. She was the first person who knew I was pregnant. I was too excited to keep the secret.

She was very happy for me, then she started to be concerned about my condition for tomorrow schedule. She had already booked the Husky safari for me. She told me the Huskies run really fast whether I stand or sit on the safari, it will have high risk to my baby. Because I was in the unstable stage. I need to take more care for my actives. She said I should cancel the trip for the baby safety. I felt so touched to hear that.
 
Finally we arrived at the lobby at the accommodation area. She checked in for me. The luggage trolley was interesting. It’s snowing there, so the luggage trolley was wooden sleighs. Guests can borrow the wooden sleighs for luggage handling within the hotel. She was worried it’d be too tired for me, so she helped me to drag my luggage to my room.

Yes!!! I was going to live in the glass igloo. I enjoy the glass igloo alone. The room no. was 6, it’s my lucky number. She said your baby must be very lucky. The baby is going to live in the glass igloo with you. She brought me some snacks for me, just take care of me and my baby. I was touched.
 

The glass igloo door is lower and small. It reminds of me the hobbit’s house. I was so excited and felt unreal. She introduced me the glass igloo. All the glass have special heater, so the glass can keep clear. You can lie on the bed and enjoy the view of the night sky and the northern lights.

The bed sheet is zebra pattern with the black and red pillows at the room, it’s fashion and cozy. I lived at the small glass igloo tonight. The space was not too big and one toilet room. It’s not focus on the space, but on the view of the night and glass design of the room.

The most attractive thing is you can enjoy the northern light at the warm room without suffering the cold weather. Try to image that you don’t need to stand outside for seeing the night view and the northern lights, you can enjoy the warm space and still see the northern lights clear. It’s really fantastic, isn’t it? The glass igloo also reviewed as one of the dream travel spot in the world in 2014.
 

The manager showed me the large glass igloo on the next day.

Large Glass Igloo has a toilet, basin and a shower room. It's bigger and good for the family.

I earned the sponsor in the speed trip in Finland. I enjoyed my first sponsor trip started from the glass igloo. The sponsor value was small glass igloo+dinner€390+visit santa's home €93=€483(about AUD$690 or NT17,388 )

 

Somethings you should know before you book the glass igloo.
1. Room rate includes breakfast only, winter season dinners mentioned above are mandatory.

2. Luggage should be left in the luggage room in the main building, only a bag or hand carry-on with essentials is recommended to bring with you to igloos

3. Saunas, showers and warm toilets are available in a separate building, guests can enjoy the evening sauna from 17:00 to 22:00 while showers are operating 24 hours a day. There are towels, bathing gel, shampoo and hairdryer in the changing room.

4. All the Glass igloos have single beds. Each Small Glass Igloo has a toilet and a small basin, Large Glass Igloo has a toilet, basin and a shower room inside, while Snow Igloo has no toilet nor basin inside.

5. The temperature inside the Glass igloos is set at around 21.

6. There are sockets inside the Glass igloos, please bring along the adaptors if needed.

7. For Glass Igloo users, please do not touch the glass, pour water or throw any objects to the glass roof.
8. The closest airport is the Ivalo Airport which is 35km away, about 30 minutes’ drive from Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort. Transfer service can be arranged at €26 per person per way, half price for children under 12. Please book in advance with flight number and time.

How can you arrive in Hotel kakslauttanen from Helsinki?

1. Airplane. take airplane from Helsinki to Ivalo, then take the bus or taxi from Ivalo airport to to Hotel Kakslauttanen. Hotel shuttle bus please book  in advance with flight number and time

2. Train+bus. take the train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi, then take the bus from Rovaniemi to Kakslauttanen in the morning. Bus stop is very close to the hotel.

一早我就在羅馬涅米的總巴士站等車，準備享受我人生中的第一個贊助住宿。經理時間算得很準，她要求我搭第一班十點多的巴士，下午四點前就會到達大廳。她說只要把她的名片給巴士司機看，司機就知道我在哪下車了，畢竟極光屋的名聲響叮噹。 

2015此段路的巴士票價為47.2歐元，旅程中會在一個巴士站休息15分鐘左右，可以買餐點和上廁所。很巧的我後面剛好坐一對台灣夫婦，很自然就聊起來了，才知道女生正在懷孕中，他們兩個帶著肚中的寶寶一起在北歐旅行，就是為了追極光。

 
下午三點多到達了Kakslauttanen，一下車就可以看到飯店招牌，大約走3分鐘就可以到達飯店大廳。

我請接待人員通知經理我已經到達飯店，接待人員讓我先在餐廳等待，並說明熱可可是免費提供，可以自行取用。

在寒冷的冬天中，能喝上一杯熱可可，真的很舒服，是很貼心的服務啊!

等待期間，巧遇前一天在破冰船遇到的中國留學生，他們一行人今晚剛好也來住極光玻璃屋。在跟一位中國留學生聊天的過程中，我突然有點不是那麼確定，他們是否真的會提供極光玻璃屋給我住，畢竟玻璃屋一晚難求，又價錢不斐。(冬天旺季兩人入住雙人房，一晚要價€ 642，以匯率36來算的話，一晚約台幣23,200元；單人入住雙人房價格為一晚要價€ 400，以匯率36來算的話，一晚也要台幣14,400元)所以通常只有高價位的極光旅行團才會安排入住極光玻璃屋。如果今晚我真的被安排入住極光玻璃屋一晚，這將會是我有生以來，住過最高價位的房間了。 

我開始懷疑自己會不會高興得太早了，到時空歡喜一場，所以決定先放鬆心情。無論如何，這都會是北歐我第一個贏得的贊助住宿，是值得紀念性的一刻。 

沒多久經理就來了，跟我告知其他客戶會晚點到，她要先載我去住宿的地方。後來我才知道原來住宿的地方離大廳還有一大段距離。前往住宿的過程中，她跟我交代今晚和隔天的行程，我們聊得很愉快。因為當時的我，才剛發現自己懷孕沒多久，就忍不住跟這位經理分享這個好消息。所以她是第一個知道我懷孕的人，當時我根本就沒有滿三個月才能說的禁忌，因為對於在旅途中，意外發現自己已經懷孕的心情實在太令人興奮了。 

她一聽到很替我開心恭喜我，接著就很替我擔心隔天的行程。因為她已經幫我訂好哈士奇雪撬行程，她說搭乘哈士奇雪撬一路上會上下晃動很大，因為哈士奇跑很快，如果是站著控制不安全，如果是坐在前面也會搖晃得太厲害，對於剛懷孕的我，風險很大。她為了我肚中的寶寶著想，貼心的幫我取消這行程。對於她的貼心考量，我很感動。 

 
沒多久我們到了住宿區的大廳，她幫我做了check in的動作。櫃台小姐是香港人，這個度假村很多員工都是來自世界各地的合約員工。

很有趣的因為芬蘭是下雪，所以拖行李的竟然是小雪撬，旅客可以跟飯店借雪撬推行李回房間。經理超貼心，怕我這位孕婦太勞累，就幫我推行李到我的房間。

 
她領我到今晚的住宿房間，答案揭曉，今晚我真的要入住一個月前才在看著圖片幻想不知道哪天有機會住到的極光玻璃屋。沒想到今晚美夢就成真了!!!! 

我的房間號碼是幸運的6號，房間鑰匙很像車鑰匙。經理笑著說我肚中的寶寶一定是超級幸運的寶寶，才能在媽媽的肚子裡就住進極光玻璃屋。   

沒多久她又拿了巧克力、餅乾和果汁送給我，怕我跟寶寶在晚餐前餓到，她叮嚀我這個準媽媽要好好照顧身體。當下真的很感動，在芬蘭受到這麼貼心的對待，感謝老天真的很照顧我跟我肚中的極光寶寶，感覺很幸福。 

我其實光是看到傳說中的極光玻璃屋在眼前就已經很興奮，經理一離開，我忍不住開心地在房內尖叫，當時覺得還是夢幻的好不可置信啊! 

玻璃屋的門比較小，所以要低著頭進去，這讓我不禁想起魔戒電影裡哈比人的房子啊!

進門後有個墊子，方便你先將鞋子的雪除掉一些，不然穿著佈滿積雪的鞋子會讓房間地上濕濕的。

房間內部裝潢是時尚的斑馬紋，配上紅色和黑色的枕頭。極光玻璃屋有兩種房型，四人房和雙人房，我入住的是雙人房。

因為玻璃屋中間有小窗簾，所以你不用擔心自己的睡姿或換褲子時會被其他的旅客看到。不過換衣服的時候，建議你把房間電燈關掉或在廁所更換，不然還是會春光外洩。

房間有廁所和洗手的小空間，附有梳妝鏡、漱口紙杯還有可愛造型的洗手乳。

經理一開始有幫我做了極光玻璃屋的簡介，說明因為玻璃都有做特殊加熱設計，所以才能清楚的看到外面的星空和夜景，幸運的話還有可能看到極光。玻璃屋的賣點不在舒適豪華，而是躺在床上就能看到外面的星空，全球也就只有這65間在kakslauttanen，還申請專利設計的玻璃屋。試著想像一下，你正舒服又溫暖躺在床上看極光和星空，不用在外面長時間忍受寒冷看星空和極光，這真的是超夢幻的一件事，怪不得這裡曾被評為2014年最夢幻的旅遊景點之一。

隔天經理特地帶我去參觀四人房的玻璃屋，空間當然就比兩人房的大一些，除了中間兩張單人床外，在房間兩側各多一張單人床。

四人房的玻璃屋不但有盥洗室外，還多了淋浴間，方便許多，很適合一家人或好朋友們一起居住。

 
夜間跟白天看這些極光屋，各有不同的風情啊!

當然想要看到極光，還是要靠運氣。不過就算沒遇到極光，能訂到房間，入住到極光玻璃屋就已經是非常幸運和享受的夢幻經驗了。如果有機會的話，Una強力推薦你來住這個超夢幻的極光玻璃屋，全球也才這65間而已，這是很多人這輩子都沒辦法達成的美夢。記得如果是想入住冬季，請提早幾個月訂房，Una在這祝福你們冬季入住時有好運，躺著就看到極光!

訂玻璃屋前有幾點特別要注意的事項：
1.請不要觸摸玻璃、潑水或朝玻璃屋頂丟東西
2.房價只有包括早餐，冬季時期晚餐是強制性付費(晚餐也會因為入住日期價錢不同，所以訂房時，請記得把晚餐的價錢也一起算進去!)
3.行李會留在行李房，只有一包或手隨身攜帶的必需品可以帶到玻璃屋
4.桑拿，淋浴和廁所溫暖是在一個單獨的建築內，客人可以享受夜間桑拿17:00至22:00，而淋浴間每天運營24小時。在更衣室有毛巾，沐浴露，洗髮水和吹風機。

5.玻璃屋室內溫度為21度

6. 行李搬運服務為€8(夏)/9(冬)元每人的方式，請提前預約
7. 最近的機場是伊瓦洛機場，35公里，距北極Kakslauttanen酒店度假村約30分鐘車程。接送服務，可以安排為每人€25(夏)/26(冬)的方式， 12歲以下兒童為一半的價格，請提前與預訂。
8. 酒店保留更改價格或條款及條件的權利，恕不另行通知。
