It was my last night with my baby in Levi. Levi Tourist Office arranged the snowshoeingnight tour. I'm still remember wanting to try this activity when I searched the snowshoeing activity. Levi Tourist office made my dream come true again.
Lapin Luontoelamys company picked us up in front of the Levi Tourist Office at 19:00. Participation fee:70 € /person, children under 12 years 35 €/child. The fee includes snowshoes, poles, gaiters, catering, hot drink, sausage and guidance. The guide speaks English and Finnish. It takes approx. 2.5 hours. You need to bring the wind- and waterproof clothing, gloves, warm hat, shoes suitable for trekking. Reservation on previous day by 6 p.m. raiski@levi.fi or +358 40 716 3033. You also can book your tour in the Levi Tourist Office. Group size: at least 4 people.
There were 6 people included me in the night tour to Levi. The van took us to the Levi summit. We wore the snowshoes and took the poles then started the snowshoeing night tour. It was my first time to wear the snowshoes. It was a little big and you needed to put your shoes in the snowshoes. Remembering to tie it up then walk. It makes you much easier to walk on the snow.
We climbed upwards for a bit after we had equipment. Everyone walked a little faster than me. I walked slowly, because I was concerned with my pregnancy. I couldn't see very well in the night. I was thinking that maybe I should bring my headlight, it would make me feel safe. I was excited to do the snowshoeing hiking in the night. We need to climb upward and walked down the slope and we went through the forest. It was a real adventure for my baby Aurora and me. The tour guide asked us to followed his steps to keep us safe. I was a little bit tired. It is a good exercise when you wore the snowshoes climb the mountain. It was especially easy to get tired in my condition.
On the way down we visited a Lapp hut.You need to take off the snowshoes once you enter the Lapp hut, otherwise you will slip.
There were 2 staff members there to welcome us. They prepared the open fire, hot drinks and self-grilled sausages.
I felt so warm. I was happy to enjoy my drink and self-grilled sausage. It is the Finland traditional treat in such excursions.

Everyone enjoyed the open fire and listened to the stories about Lappish life and culture.
After getting warm in the hut we headed outside to continue our snowshoes hiking.We enjoyed the Levi nocturnal view.It was a little bit exciting we couldn't see the route very well and we went through the forest. Sometimes we slipped in the snow. If you are lucky, you will see the northern lights during the night tour. We were not lucky on that night.
Snowshoeing is a great way to experience Levi, Finland. I'm highly recommendedthis activity. You can choose to do the snowshoeing tour in the day or the night . You will have totally different experience. The walk itself was a lot of fun, just I worried about my baby so I couldn't enjoy it very well.

The entry fee: Adults12€, Children6€, Entrance for family of 2 adults and 2 children (4-12y) 30€. You can visit the ice bar, restaurant, ice church and the ice hotel. Opening in the middle of December. Open every day from 10 am to 6 pm.
A Finns boy was my tour guide. He tried his best to introduce the ice gallery to me. There would be a wedding that afternoon. It's a very popular wedding venue here. I couldn't take any wedding photos, because I had another schedule in the afternoon. There are many people who hold the wedding here from around the world. For example British, French, American...ect. Decorated with ice sculptures and lights, the snow chapel of Levi Ice Gallery is a unique, truly magical place to say "I do". You will see the Northern lights on your wedding night if you are lucky.

A Lappish Winter wedding is a romantic fusion of Lappish traditions and your own White Wedding Dreams. Finns believe that the wedding in the ice church shows the pure love and royal love .

I had a good sleep at Levitunturi Spa Hotel in Levi last night. I did the proposal in Levi tourist office after I had my breakfast. They arranged a husky safari for me in the morning. The Levi information center is very close to the Levitunturi Spa Hotel.
There were 2 ice sculptures in front of the Levi information center. You can image how cold it was.
It was another Polar Bear ice sculpture.
The cars and the trees were covered by the snow.
One thing on my wish list was taking the husky safari. I had only seen the husky safari in the movies. I thought it was incredible if I could do it. This day I was going to make my dream come true . The bus came to the Levi tourist office to pick us up.
I was the only Asian girl in this group.
It was a really big challenge to me in Levi as it was so cold last night at -25 degree. But it was colder at -32 degree in the morning.
The boss of the Tundra Huskies. He has 27 years experience training the huskies.
We arrived at Tundra Huskies Husky farm entrance.
Everyone wore so many clothes and covered their faces very well, because it was so chilly.
We were so excited to start our husky safari tour.
The boss was talking about how we would pass one section that would be at -45 degree when we do the husky safari 10 km.
Everyone needed to be careful and stay at a safe distance of about 10 meters.
The boss showed the right pose to ride the sledge.
Everyone needed to notice the speed. Just go slow. It is very important to know how to stop the sledge on the husky safari.
You need to step on the brake if you want to stop the sledge or to reduce your speed.
There were 8 huskies. They were so excited to run the husky safari. They could't wait to go.
It was my first time to take the husky safari. My baby & I enjoyed the Finland beautiful snow scenry and the speed. You can see the blanket was covered by the frost already.
Ha..It was me. I needed to covered my face very well.
You can see other people on the husky safaris. It just like the movie scenes.
They have only Arctic pure breed Siberian Husky in their Husky farm.
They looked a little like the wolfs as well.

I highly recommend the Tundra Huskies husky safari. You can search it is the top 1 activity in Levi on the tripadvisor website. They got high reviews. The boss has 27 years experience training the huskies. They have only Arctic pure breed Siberian Husky in their Husky farm. Husky safari is always accompanied by a professional safari guide. They take care of these huskies very well. Husky safari program is based on many years of experience in Levi Husky park. Huskies welfare is very important to them, well-kept and trained sled dogs,their huskies are always happy to go on husky safari. Their sledges are modern with good brakes and safe to drive. You know these huskies were taken care of very well.
Let me introduce the Siberian husky. The Siberian Husky is a medium size, dense-coat working dog breed that originated in north-eastern Siberia. Huskies are a very active, energetic, and resilient breed whose ancestors came from the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic. Siberian Huskies were bred by the Chukchi of Northeastern Asia to pull heavy loads long distances through difficult conditions. I took the bus from Inari to Santa Claus Village in the morning, then I transferred to Rovaniemi bus station to take the bus to Levi in the afternoon. Finally I arrived in Levi at night. Levi was my third sponsor trip. I was going to stay here 2 nights.

Let me introduce Levi first. Levi is a fell located in Finnish Lapland. It's also very popular to see the Northern lights here. At a latitude of 67.8° north, it is located approximately 170 km (110 mi) north of the Arctic Circle. It usually guarantees generous snow cover and sub-zero (<-18C) temperatures throughout winter. Most tourists are from Finland or the other European countries. You can take a flight from London, Paris, Amsterdam...ect to Levi.
Levi is the largest and the best ski resort in Finland. There are 43 ski slopes here. The skiing and snowboarding season in Levi is fairly long, often lasting from October to mid-May. The slopes in Levi are mostly suitable for beginners or intermediates, but there are also three black slopes for experts. There are many activities you can choose here. You also can hold your wedding here.
The first bus stop just in front of the 4 stars hotel-Spa Hotel Levitunturi. It was so convenience. I was treated to stay here 2 nights.
I thought was cold enough at -20 degree in Inari last night, but it was -25 degree here this night. I was so happy that I can go into Spa Hotel Levitunturi so quick and I didn't need to suffer the cold weather outside. It was so warm in the lobby.
I got my room key and the spa water world enter watch after the check in. You can feel the Lapland, Finland atmosphere in the lobby. You can see the ceiling and the walls were built with timber. The floor was made of stone. This hotel is top 3 in Levi accommodation on the tripadviosr website. Room price is including: Breakfast buffet, Morning swim Tue-Sun, one daily entrance to Spa Water World, entrance to gym, entrance to Playhouse Inka&Nico for children, entrance to restaurant. The spa water world is quite popular here. The adult fee is 22 €.
You can see it was at -25 degree. There were Levi tourist information books in 3 different languages in the lobby.

The room key was special. The black watch allowed me free entry to the Spa Water World.
I was going to stay at this room 2 nights. It was DBL standard room.

I loved the simple chair. It was quite comfort to sit in here. You can see the snow scenery when you open the curtain.
I was surprised that there was a backdoor to the outside. There was a balcony. They already cleaned the snow from the floor.
It looked like I stayed in a cabin from the outside.

I recommend to book the room on their official website. Sometimes they offer the holiday package, so you can get the cheaper price. This hotel often fully booked, so you need to book your room early, even in the off-peak season.

巴士停在Levi的第一站，剛好就是Una今晚被招待的四星級飯店Spa Hotel Levitunturi門口，非常方便。
前一晚在Inari時，以為-21度已經是Una此行最冷的極限，沒想到Levi又更冷，竟然冷到-25度。還好 ㄧ下巴士就可以馬上進Spa Hotel Levitunturi飯店的溫暖大廳，不用在外面受寒太久。
跟飯店人員告知Una的姓名後，他們就把房卡和一個磁性手錶遞給Una，順便跟Una解說房間和溫水游泳池的位置，並祝Una住得開心。入眼就可以感受到北歐拉普蘭區的氛圍，木格柵的天花板和裝飾牆面，還有大石塊地板。這間四星級飯店在Tripadvisor網站中，是Levi住宿排行榜的第3名，還被列為超值型住宿。因為在這裡入住的客人可以免費使用Spa Water World水世界的游泳池、桑拿浴室和健身房。Spa Water World水世界的游泳池在當地很受觀光客歡迎，因為天氣太冷了，大家晚上都會來這裡的溫水泳池，成人的入場費就要22 €(以目前1:37匯率來算的話，約台幣800元)，還有附免費的早餐和免費WIFI。
牆上可以看到當晚溫度-25度，還有Una此行贊助商Levi觀光單位所印製的三種語言觀光手冊。

It was like an impossible dream for me to see the aurora. Finally I had the chance to visit Finland, because of the MATKA. I almost flew half way around the earth to make my dream come true. It was 36 hours flight from Sydney, Australia to Helsinki, Finland. I transferred twice in 2 airports. I took the night train and bus from Helsinki to Inari. It was a quite long tripto Lapland, but it was worth it.
Inari was my priority place to see the aurora in Finland. I saw there were many people shared their experience for seeing the aurora there. Your biggest chance to see the Northern lights in Lapland Finland will be at a higher latitude.Arctic Circle: 66° 33' 39" N;Inari: 68° 39' 34”. Especially the lake Inari is a perfect place to watch the northern lights in Inari as it is an open space without light pollution.
The bus stopped in front of VisitInari.fi company. It was the first bus stop in Inari. The company offer hotel and cabin accommodation and a wide selection of wilderness safaris and Sámi culture tours all year round.
I was going to stay in Inari Aurora Resort. Let's go check in here.
Here is Check in reception. I talked with the staff for a while. She was so curious why so many Taiwanese came here to see the Norther lights. I answers her "We thought here is the best place to see the aurora in Finland." I think most of Taiwanese had the strong faith to see the Northern lights here, after all it is so far away from Taiwan to Finland.
I was sponsored by VisitInari.fi company to stay in this new hotel＂Inari aurora resort". Double room from 138€/night. Single room from 118€/night. One person rooms are the same as for two persons.
This hotel built in 2014. Excellent location for watching aurora. It's next to the Inari lake. All rooms have their own sauna and most rooms have a direct view onto Inari lake. The hotel is by the Inari lake, so you can see Northern Lights directly from there, you don't need any transfer.
The room key was so beautiful. Good sign to see the aurora tonight.
You will get a breakfast voucher after check in. Presenting this voucher to HOTEL INARI, then you can enjoy the buffet breakfast.

There was a wardrobein the entrance hallway. It's a simple and smart space design. You can leave your coat and shoes covered by the snow here, then your bedroom won't get wet. The snow can't go through the front door as well.

You can see it was like a brand new room. I love the modern interior design.The precious metal colorwas a little bit luxury.
You can see the Inari lake view when you open the curtain. You don't need to suffer in the cold weather for waiting the aurora. You can check the aurora in the room.

I was still so excited after the Aurora Snowmobile Expedition tourtour. I met one Taiwanese couple during my trip. They also stayed in Inari this night for seeing the aurora. They told me the aurora would finish soon, so I went to the Inari lake again to see the aurora. I only walked about 2-3 mins from my room to the Inari lake. I was so lucky to have found the dancing Aurora again.
The Taiwanese took me this photo. I was so touched in this night. I was with my baby to see the amazing aurora. I only saw the ice lake in the movie, but I was standing on the ice lake in this night. Fantastic night in Inari.

I'd like to talk about my daughter first before I share the Aurora snowmobile expedition tour. Many friends and fans asked me why her name is Aurora? Her name is related to this activity. You will figure out once you read the article to the end. I had two purposes for the 2015 Finland trip. The first one was my first business proposal with the Europeans. The second was Aurora hunting. I made some wishes before I went to Finland. The 2 most important wishes were that I will have successful proposal and I will see the aurora in Finland.
I saw one of my friend's photos of the Northern Lights on facebook before I made the decision to Finland. I wasn't pregnant at that time. I was thinking it'll be so fantastic if one day I pregnant to see the aurora with my baby. I commented on his photos " I hope one day I will see the Northern Lights. " He replied me "Come on! You had been to Easter Island. It's so far away. I'm sure you will see the Northern lights one day. " Finally I made the decision to attend the MATKA in Finland. I didn't know I was already pregnant before I went to Finland. I found out I was pregnant until I was on the night train from Helsinki to Kemi after attending the MATKA.
Most tourists want to see the Northern lights in Finland. Everyone has the chance to see the aurora. I think the good luck is the most important factor. It's not easy to see the Aurora. Auroras are produced when the magnetosphere is sufficiently disturbed by the solar wind that the trajectories of charged particles in both solar wind and magnetospheric plasma, mainly in the form of electrons and protons, precipitate them into the upper atmosphere, where their energy is lost. The resulting ionization and excitation of atmospheric constituents emits light of varying colour and complexity.
I met one Taiwanese tour in Kemi. They already finished the Aurora tour in Finland. They were not lucky enough to see the aurora during the trip. I only stayed 2 nights in Lapland. My last night was in Inari. It would be my last chance to see the aurora in Lapland in Finland. You probably know that I saw the aurora in the Aurora Snowmobile Expedition tour in the end.

Aurora Snowmobile Expedition takes 3 hours from 20:00 to 23:00.
the tour guide will take us away from the village glow to a location with the best view of the sky that night. If the weather and luck are on our side, we should get to witness natures own magical dancing light show! Hot juice will be provided to warm us up.

I arrived in Inari was about 5:20 pm. The bus just stop in front of the Lake and snow Inari company. It's so convenience. I contacted with the staff. She asked me that I want to ride the snowmobile alone or sit in the sleigh. She responsibly told me that it takes risk if I ride the snowmobile alone. I thought about for a while then I answer her "I'd like to ride the snowmobile alone." Actually I was not really alone, I was with my baby. She asked me if I have international driver licence? I showed her mine.
I also checked in here and went to my room at the Inari Aurora Hotel. I backed to the office about 7:30. There were many Taiwanese students in this tour. I was the only one girl to ride the snowmobile alone.

The winter equipment included the balaclava,the ski clothes, shoes and the gloves. It was under minus twenty degrees. The sky was clear. It was not snowing at that night. The tour guide said"we are so lucky tonight. We got the big chance to see the aurora tonight."
I was very excited and a little nervous. It was my first time to ride the snowmobile. The tour guide taught us the hand signals to make sure we would have a safe trip. We practice at the beginning, then we started our ride. Because we would to a location with the best view of the sky that night without any light, knew the hand signals was very important.
The lake was covered with ice.We were riding on the lake. The lake was not even. I didn't ride the snowmobile very well at first, then I got used to it.
We saw the first aurora in less then one hour riding. Everyone was so excited. Finally I understood that people said the aurora looks different from the photos. It was not like the green color as the photo. The tour guide Matti said"it just the beginning. we are going to see the more beautiful aurora."
He told us the truth. we saw the aurora was more beautiful than before. I was so touched to see that. I praise god to create the universe is so amazing. I really saw the dancing aurora. It was like in the movie scene. It was like unreal, but it was real!
